Amidst Growing Recognition of Palestine, Netanyahu Cries ‘Madness’

As the global momentum for Palestinian statehood grows, with 157 nations now on board, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood at the UN and cried “madness.” His speech was a furious counter-offensive against the diplomatic tide turning against his government’s position.
He specifically targeted recent recognitions by allies like the UK, France, and Canada, calling their move “horribly wrong” and a danger to global security. The response from the international community was a mass walkout, with over 100 diplomats leaving the General Assembly hall in protest.
Netanyahu coupled his diplomatic condemnation with a military promise: to “finish the job” in Gaza. He ignored pleas for a ceasefire and warnings of a humanitarian disaster, framing the continued assault as a non-negotiable security imperative for Israel.
The Israeli leader also made a direct threat to Hamas leaders, demanding they surrender and release 48 hostages or face elimination. The speech, a mix of defiance, threats, and PR stunts like a QR code, highlighted his strategy of confronting rather than conciliating his critics.
